THE CHALLENGE:

Our client’s business was operating at an unacceptable ROIC of 4% and as a result, required a step change in business performance with the focus on rapidly improving the ‘bottom line’, to sustain operations. One of the areas identified, as a key contributor to the poor performance, was the ineffectiveness of the existing Asset Management program and the organisation design implemented to support this program.

THE SOLUTION:

EnterpriseIS was engaged by our client to conduct an Asset Management Evaluation. The results of the evaluation, then formed the scope for the site’s Asset Management Improvement Plan:

  1. Develop, document and implement new efficient Maintenance Work Management business processes
  2. Coach and mentor the restructured maintenance organisation to support the delivery of the newly developed business processes
  3. Identify and implement KPIs to monitor performance
  4. Identify and clearly understand the critical to operation equipment and manage based on risk
  5. Review PM frequencies, strategies and tactics for all critical operational equipment.

THE RESULT:

  1. A restructured Maintenance department and newly selected
    Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Planner/Scheduler
    selected, coached and mentored into their new roles
  2. Maintenance Work Management processes developed and
    implemented, supported by maintenance and operations
  3. Critical equipment identified, failure modes understood,
    equipment strategies and tactics implemented
  4. A 4% averaged improvement in plant OEE
  5. A significant contributor to the site meeting a 16% ROIC target
    within 12 months.
