Operational Readiness Review – Port Operations

Operational Readiness Review – Port Operations

THE CHALLENGE:

Our client’s port was undergoing a major works program, as part of a multibillion dollar expansion being carried out in the Pilbara region. Their requirement was to clearly identify the tasks, resources and schedule required to achieve Operational Readiness for Phase 1 (the 2nd Outloading Circuit) of the Port Expansion project. Identifying these requirements would enable the effective planning of the activities to be implemented to ensure an efficient startup of operations on completion of Phase 1. This project was undertaken in a time-constrained environment.

THE SOLUTION:

EnterpriseIS facilitated a workshop with the Port and Expansion Project Leadership team to identify and develop the required Operational Readiness Plan.

The EnterpriseIS 17 Element Operational Readiness framework was used to scope the client’s requirements and formed the basis for the Operational Readiness gap analysis.

This workshop covered the main steps of:

  1. Operational Readiness ‘Leading Practice’ Overview
  2. Assessment of Current Operational Readiness Status
  3. Conduct a Gap Analysis of Current Operational Readiness

THE RESULT:

  1. The Operational Readiness Strategy and Draft Plan were developed and agreed in one day
  2. The Operational Readiness Plan was further validated and rolled out for Phase 1 of the project
  3. Identification and subsequent appointment of a dedicated Commissioning Manager from the client’s site for the EPCM provider.
