Remote Operations and Maintenance Planning Delivery

Remote Operations and Maintenance Planning Delivery

THE CHALLENGE:

Our client’s new mining project team were looking for ways to improve the delivery of site- based services without impacting effectiveness.

During this initial review, it was identified that the ability to find suitably qualified maintenance planners was difficult, which was impacting the ability of the site to effectively plan and deliver regular maintenance activities. Working together with site management, EnterpriseIS was able to develop a solution to the provision of this function, which significantly reduced the cost without impacting effectiveness.

THE SOLUTION:

The onsite EnterpriseIS Asset Management specialist had already been involved in the development of the site asset management system, including development of the asset register and implementation of ongoing operations and maintenance activities.

Having already established the site maintenance requirements and asset strategies, EnterpriseIS then undertook a project that would enable the site to transfer all operations and maintenance planning activities to an offsite location, where the following would be conducted for the site team:

  • Operations and Maintenance planning for all site activities
  • Weekly Operations and Maintenance Task Schedule configured and communicated with a weekly meeting
  • Ongoing development and management of the site asset register
  • Ongoing Management of site data including strategy development and modifications as new assets come on and updates to counters for assets with hours and kilometers

THE RESULT

At the conclusion of the project, all site operational planning activities had been moved to the remote planning centre, which resulted in the following savings and efficiency gains for the client:

  • Reduction in time allocated to maintenance planning from 44 hours onsite per week, to 20 hours offsite per week
  • No site-based costs required for maintenance planning (travel, accommodation, site allowance, site desk space)
  • All risks associated with recruiting and training maintenance planners have now been transferred to EnterpriseIS
